Robot painting for car bodies
For car bodies we supply GR6150-2900 robots at 2,900 mm reach with electrostatic rotary bells, servo gear-pump metering and 5-colour change, tracking the conveyor from opposed stations. One delivered exterior line runs at 23 jobs per hour with four robots; a delivered interior line uses four robots on two 11 m tracks, one opening doors while the other paints.
The numbers behind this configuration
| Delivered line rate | 23 JPH (jobs per hour), four robots |
|---|---|
| Robot | CMA GR6150-2900, 15 kg, 2,900 mm, ATEX Zone 1/21 |
| Applicator | Electrostatic rotary bell, 55 or 65 mm cup, dual shaping air |
| Metering | 4.5 cc gear pump, servo driven |
| Colour change | 5 colours plus solvent, with hold-pressure valve |
| Seventh axis (interior) | 14 m overall, ≥11 m travel, 1 m/s, ±0.2 mm, Ex motors |
Figures come from the project records behind the linked projects below, not from a brochure. Your line will differ — these are what we actually built or engineered.
What we supply
- Robot selection against the body envelope and the station layout
- Bell or gun, colour change stack, metering and hold-pressure valves
- Interior work: door-opener robot programming and the opening sequence
- Seventh-axis track with Ex motors and Ex cable carriers where the booth is classified
- Cell control on a safety PLC, pre-integration test in China before shipment
- Site installation support and path fine-tuning
What this application taught us
Bell cup diameter and cycle time are locked before the quotation. On one project a 55 mm cup had to be swapped for 65 mm on site, and every interface item — conveyor encoder, supply back-pressure, air quality — now goes into a written interface list rather than becoming a change order.
What we need from you
- Part drawings or dimensioned photographs, including the deepest recess to be coated or the full weld list.
- The paint or process specification: 1K or 2K, solvent or waterborne, powder, adhesive or wire, with the required film build or weld size.
- The required output — parts or jobs per hour — and the shift pattern.
- Booth or cell dimensions, the conveyor or hanger arrangement, and the hazardous-area classification your safety engineer has assigned.
