Packing, container loading and export documents
A complete CMA GR6150-2900 painting robot ships in a crate of 2,500 × 1,100 × 2,200 mm at 1,250 kg gross; the smallest painting robot, a GR6150-1500, is 2,500 × 1,100 × 1,645 mm at 550 kg. A complete ARC12-1400 sleeve welding cell is 2,500 × 1,100 × 1,600 mm at 500 kg with a 350 A class welder, or 360 kg without. Crate sizes and weights for the painting range, the standard robot range and the welding cells are below, with the documents we issue and the Incoterms we quote - EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP.
Buyers plan freight before they place an order, and a supplier who cannot give crate dimensions is a supplier who has not shipped much. These figures come from the manufacturers' 2025 export packing tables and from our own shipments.

"Complete set" means arm, control cabinet, cable set, pendant and mounting hardware. Application equipment, tracks and positioners are crated separately. † The source sheet lists these two rows with length and width transposed; they are shown here as L × W × H and the orientation is confirmed per shipment. Crate data for the other GR models is issued with the offer.
Painting robots - arm only
| Model | Crate size, L × W × H (mm) | Net weight (kg) | Gross weight (kg) |

| GR680-2700 | 1,350 × 1,000 × 2,050 | 448 | 550 |
| GR6150-2900 | 2,200 × 930 × 2,000 | 950 | 1,100 |
| GR6100-3800 | 2,410 × 1,100 × 1,850 | 920 | 1,050 |
Arm-only supply is a normal scope where you have your own integration team - one delivered project was twelve GR6150-2900 arms pre-fitted to the customer's specification.

Sleeve welding cells. The crate size is the same with or without the welding power source, so a cell-only order saves weight and freight cost but not container space. Welder brand and model are configured with the offer.
Standard robots - crate size and weight
Handling, welding and palletizing models across the collaborative (ECR), SCARA (ESR) and six-axis and palletizing (ER) ranges. Weights are given as the manufacturer's range because the crate content varies with the cabinet and cable length ordered.

* The manufacturer's sheet gives a figure for these three rows that contradicts the other column - a gross weight below the net, or a net range that runs into the gross. The source values are reproduced here unchanged rather than smoothed over, and they are marked for verification: we confirm them with the manufacturer before they go on a packing list or a freight quote, and the offer's packing list governs.
Container reference
| Container | Internal length | Internal width | Internal height | Typical payload |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20GP | ≈ 5,898 mm | ≈ 2,352 mm | ≈ 2,393 mm | ≈ 28 t |
| 40GP | ≈ 12,032 mm | ≈ 2,352 mm | ≈ 2,393 mm | ≈ 26 t |
| 40HQ | ≈ 12,032 mm | ≈ 2,352 mm | ≈ 2,698 mm | ≈ 26 t |
Standard container internal dimensions vary slightly by owner and build year, and every crate here is within the 2,352 mm internal width, so the practical limits are crate height against the door aperture and the number of crates per row. We confirm the loading plan against the actual container with the forwarder for every shipment.
What a real shipment looked like
The delivered glass bonding cell shipped CIF port as six crates in one 40GP at about 4.5 t - robot, three centering tables, the heated adhesive supply system, the control cabinets and the guarding. The contract schedule allowed 10 working days for packing and 2 months for sea freight inside a 39-week programme, which is the realistic shape of a China-to-Russia delivery when installation and acceptance are included.
Documents we issue
- Commercial invoice and packing list - crate by crate, with net and gross weights and dimensions.
- Certificate of origin - ordinary or Form A / FTA certificate where your route allows a preferential rate.
- Bill of lading or air waybill, and the insurance certificate on CIF terms.
- Dangerous goods declaration where paint, solvent, adhesive or batteries are in the shipment.
- Technical conformity file - certificate copies with their numbers, declarations of conformity and datasheets, for customs and for your safety authority.
- Fumigation and ISPM 15 marking on wooden crates, as required by the destination.
Frequently asked questions
How many painting robots fit in a 40 ft container?
A 40GP has an internal length of about 12,032 mm, width 2,352 mm and height 2,393 mm. A complete GR6150-2900 crate measures 2,500 × 1,100 × 2,200 mm at 1,250 kg gross, so four crates stand along the length in a single row with clearance and the four together come to about 5 t, nowhere near the container payload. The binding constraint is height rather than weight or floor area: a 2,200 mm crate clears the internal height but leaves very little for dunnage and has to pass the door aperture, which is lower than the internal height. We confirm the loading plan with the freight forwarder for each shipment rather than assuming a standard figure.
Do you ship an arc welding cell with or without the welder?
Both, and the difference is worth planning for. A complete ARC12-1400 sleeve welding cell with a 350 A class welder is 500 kg gross; the same cell supplied without welder and torch is 360 kg. Buyers who already run a preferred welding brand in the plant, or who can buy that brand locally on better terms, take the cell only and fit their own. The crate size does not change either way.
Which welder class goes with which material thickness?
As a starting rule from the manufacturer: 0.8-3 mm is normally a 350 A class machine, above 8 mm normally a 500 A class machine, and 3-8 mm depends on the process - joint preparation, position, wire and the cycle time you need. Within the 350 A class there is a low-spatter machine for carbon steel, stainless and galvanized sheet, and a pulse machine for the same materials where spatter has to be lower still. We confirm the choice against your drawings rather than against the thickness alone.
What is shipped with the robot?
The arm and the control cabinet are crated separately or together depending on the model; the cable set, teach pendant, standard gun and mounting hardware travel with them. Peripherals - colour-change valves, pumps, 2K units, tracks - are crated as their own line items and listed on the packing list.
Which documents do you issue?
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, bill of lading or air waybill, and a dangerous-goods declaration where the shipment includes paint, solvent or batteries. On request we add the technical conformity file - certificate copies, declarations of conformity, datasheets - that customs and your safety authority ask for.
Can you ship on CIF or DAP rather than EXW?
Yes. We quote EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP. On a large line the difference matters: twenty 40 ft containers quoted EXW leaves the buyer carrying clearance and inland transport, which is why we offer a delivered alternative alongside so the total investment is visible before the order.
How is a long linear track packed?
In sections. A 13.4 m track was shipped as three sections in two wooden crates; the section length is a design decision taken with the packing in mind, and it is quoted with the offer rather than added afterwards.
