Robot painting for plastic exterior parts

Bumpers, spoilers and grilles up to 1,900 × 800 × 700 mm are coated by five GR6150-2900 robots — one primer, two base, two clear — tracking a conveyor at 0.3–2.5 m/min. Film builds are 8–12 µm primer, 15–30 µm base and 30–40 µm clear, with 2-colour primer change, 12-colour base change including pearl, and externally mixed 2K clear.

Figures come from the project records behind the linked projects below, not from a brochure. Your line will differ — these are what we actually built or engineered.

What we supply

  • Survey of the existing line before bidding — booth dimensions, airflow, skid geometry
  • Robot positions and reach simulation against the real part mix
  • Colour-change stack sized to the actual change frequency, not the colour count
  • 2K clear coat mixing and flush arrangement
  • Safety PLC, remote I/O, encoder tracking and muting

What this application taught us

An existing-line retrofit is surveyed on site before bidding. PDF drawings with no CAD and no air-balance diagram left a booth-widening question unresolved to the end of one proposal.

What we need from you

  • Part drawings or dimensioned photographs, including the deepest recess to be coated or the full weld list.
  • The paint or process specification: 1K or 2K, solvent or waterborne, powder, adhesive or wire, with the required film build or weld size.
  • The required output — parts or jobs per hour — and the shift pattern.
  • Booth or cell dimensions, the conveyor or hanger arrangement, and the hazardous-area classification your safety engineer has assigned.
