Electrical-cabinet powder coating with 3D vision path generation (engineered proposal)
One six-axis robot coats the interiors and hard-to-reach areas of electrical cabinets from 150 × 150 to 2,000 × 1,000 mm and 10–450 mm deep, while reciprocators with four guns per side cover the outer faces. A 3D laser camera identifies the cabinet type, corrects its position and generates the path; line speed 1–2 m/min, 24/7.
The problem the customer brought
Not enough skilled operators, a manual process that was hard to manage, and finish quality that was hard to control.
Workpiece
Cabinets from 150 × 150 to 2,000 × 1,000 mm, 10–450 mm deep, 3 to 24 mixed parts per 3 m beam on double hooks; line speed 1–2 m/min, running 24/7.
Robots
1 × six-axis 2 m floor-mounted robot, customer-supplied, with a tracking card.
Process and equipment
Electrostatic powder at 60–70 µm; the robot coats interiors and hard-to-reach areas while reciprocators with four guns per side coat the outer faces; a 3D laser camera identifies the cabinet type, corrects the position and generates the path.
Commercial terms
Vision system 2 weeks after deposit; 10 days of site commissioning.
Shipping terms on current projects: EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP. Customer names, plant locations and prices are not published.
How it ended
Proposal stage; the integrator recommended a pilot on one robot and one part before scaling.
What we do differently because of this project
Reachability is verified against the deepest part in the mix — 450 mm, interior faces — after the vision supplier's proposal quoted a 0.1 m depth. Every quoted model number is checked against the datasheet attached to the offer.
