Machine housings on a 72 m floor track — GR6150-2900 robots with colour change (engineered proposal)
Small housings and parts painted inside and outside in different colours, on a 72 m seventh-axis floor track with HIWIN rails, German helical rack and 3 kW explosion-proof motors. The proposal moved from eight single-gun robots to five robots with 3-colour plus solvent change and 2K mixing; requirements changed and it was not concluded.
The problem the customer brought
Not enough skilled operators, a manual process that was hard to manage, and finish quality that was hard to control.
Workpiece
Small housings and parts, different colours inside and outside, coated on bottom, side and top faces.
Robots
5 × CMA GR6150-2900 (eight in the first version) on a 72 m seventh-axis floor track — HIWIN guideways, German helical rack, 3 kW explosion-proof motors.
Process and equipment
From a first version with a pneumatic diaphragm pump in one colour and LVMP automatic air guns, to 3-colour plus solvent change valves with 2K mixing and separate base and topcoat stations.
Commercial terms
Lead time 3 months after deposit.
Shipping terms on current projects: EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP. Customer names, plant locations and prices are not published.
How it ended
Requirements changed substantially after the quotation and the project was not concluded.
What we do differently because of this project
No quotation without the three inputs — paint system, cycle time and number of colours. Track cost is calculated per metre, so it is quoted per metre too: quoting a lump sum against a per-metre cost lets the customer derive the difference.
